Your Dream Life - Have you achieved yours?
I was watching a celebrity reality programme on television, Fletcher's Family Farm, when Kelvin Fletcher said that he was truly living the dream.
His dream, although it was not where he originally started.
It made me wonder: how many of us are actually living the life we once dreamed of?
Probably not that many.
When we are young, many of us have some idea of the route we would like our lives to take. Perhaps it is university, learning a trade through an apprenticeship, entering a profession, or simply starting at the bottom and working our way upwards.
But does life work out the way we expect?
Sometimes it does.
Some people seem to know exactly what they want to do, understand how to get there, and follow that path successfully.
For many others, though, life develops through a mixture of decisions, opportunities, necessity, and occasionally plain chance.
We might move from job to job because we are unsure of what we really want. We may accept work simply because we need the money. Before long, a temporary decision can become a career, and the direction of our lives changes without us ever consciously choosing it.
That does not necessarily mean we have failed.
Perhaps the dream itself changes.
I have had several different roles during my working life before eventually finding something that fits me well now. Looking back, I could not have predicted the route that brought me here.
Perhaps living the dream is not always about achieving the life we imagined when we were younger.
Maybe it is about recognising when, somewhere along the unexpected route, we have found a life that suits us.
Did you eventually find a life that suits you?
